Restaurant of the Week: Southern Rail

Located in uptown Phoenix just West of 3rd Ave on Camelback Road, Southern Rail is open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch and serves up Classic American food with a Southern twist.

Led by Chef Justin Beckett, Southern Rail’s menu offers a variety of Southern inspired foods such as Texas slow‐smoked barbeque, Gulf Coast seafood and New Orleans dishes driven by Cajun and Creole cultures. Chef Beckett strives to locally as many ingredients as possible, changing the menus seasonal to match available produce.

One of the most popular starter dishes is the locally grown fried green tomatoes. One of our personal favorites is the deviled eggs, which the new menu debuting this weekend has a new version that we are in love with!

Some of their classic main dishes are the fried chicken and the smoked chicken + grilled andouille gumbo. There is a delicious vegetarian casserole coming to the new menu as well that will be a hit with even meat lovers. There are also a great variety of salads if you are looking to eat a little lighter.

Brunch items includes sandwiches and salads as well as some favorites like biscuits and gravy and bread pudding french toast.

On Mondays and Tuesday, Southern Rail offers what they call “BBQ and Bourbon,” which is a sharable plate of BBQ and two bourbon cocktails.

Southern Rail is open 11am to 10pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 10pm on Saturdays and 10am to 9pm on Sundays.
