Restaurant of the Week: Hand Cut

Hand Cut Burgers and Chophouse is Scottsdale’s new 100% grass fed burger and steakhouse restaurant that puts an emphasis on responsibly sourced ingredients.

Just like every Riot Hospitality establishment, we loved the attention to detail in the decor and finishes at Hand Cut. Reclaimed wood, marble countertops, brass finishes and a glass-enclosed butcher prep area make this space truly unique.

The cocktail menu has a list of signature drinks that were hand crafted by Matt Thompson. We tried several of the cocktails and found them all to be delicious. Our favorite was the Peach Ambrosia.

For starters, we highly recommend trying the Tempura Zucchini Fries and Salt & Vinegar Fries. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip is another great starter that has a unique twist with some golden raisins mixed in.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the burgers for your entree. All of the meats at Hand Cut are responsibly sourced from Arizona Grass Fed Beef Co. The Hand Cut Classic is perfect if you are wanting just a really great standard burger. The Mushroom Cheddar burger is a great option as well, with roasted mushrooms, aged cheddar, roasted garlic mayo, arugula, topped with drizzled balsamic – and we recommend adding the fried egg. If you don’t eat beef, you can substitute a chicken breast for any of the burgers and there is a delicious Crispy Chicken Sandwich and Veggie Burger to choose from as well. If you are looking for a low carb or gluten free option, any of the burgers or sandwiches can be made “protein-style” (if you have a gluten allergy, verify with your server which burgers/sandwiches don’t contain gluten).

Black Angus Tomahawk

If you’re wanting a steakhouse dinner, the Harris Ranch Prime Filet should do the trick! If you’re feeling REALLY hungry, The Black Angus Tomahawk is sure to fill you up! This 2 lb. bone-in ribeye is grilled to perfection with garlic butter with a fully loaded hand cut baked potato – it’ll set you back $85, but worth every penny. For a side dish with your steak, you must try the creamed corn. It is perfectly creamy and has a touch of jalepeno – you won’t be able to stop eating it.

For dessert, you can order from the Creamery (which you can also pop in JUST for the ice cream). Here you can order ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes created with ice cream and cookies that are made fresh daily. Ice cream flavors include nutella, vanilla, sweet cream, cherry blossom, fudgesicle (dairy free ), salted caramel, mint chip, fruity pebbles.
