Z’Tejas is an ever growing restaurant, originally from Austin, Texas and expanding to the Scottsdale and surrounding areas. Serving up authentic Southwestern Mexican food for friends and family near and far, they have something on the menu for everyone, for brunch, lunch, dinner or just drinks.
A full brunch menu was recently rolled out, and is being offered Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm. We were fortunate to be some of the first to try it. The brunch menu has unique and flavorful options from house favorites, Mexican classics, salads, and traditional breakfast options. We sampled the Sausage and Sage Puff Pastry, served in a skillet with corn, potatoes, and sausage between puff pastry dough cooked to the perfect light and fluffy airiness, dreams are made of.
Their regular lunch menu is also offered and has a several dishes you can’t pass up. Starting with delicious and fresh tableside guacamole, street tacos, and of course some classic margaritas. We were super intrigued and excited to try the Smoked Chicken Chile Relleno, which quickly became our favorite dish. It is a grilled Poblano pepper filled with pecans, apricots, raisins, pepitas and chicken. The uniqueness of flavor is like a fiesta in your mouth. The Poblano pepper provides a smoky savory flavor followed by some spice with the sweetness of the fruit and the crunch of the pepitas.
