What to Wear to The Polo Party

The Seventh Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower returns to WestWorld of Scottsdale November 11th and 12th. This event is so much more than a polo game – it is a must-attend event for the see and be-seen. So we turned to stylist Kat Aba, the founder of Chapters of a Blonde, to share with us what to wear to The Polo Party.

With the return of the Scottsdale Polo Championships, filled with events, parties, and eye catching style, this is one event you cannot miss. You can expect warm weather here in Arizona still, so be sure to break out the sunscreen, hats, and breathable fabrics to stay cool since the majority of the event is held outside. Here are some major elements to keep in mind when deciding what to wear to this fashionable event…

The Hats

Let’s chat about the hats! Ladies, bring out your sun hat or a wide brimmed hat. If you have one with a feather or some decoration on it, wear it! This is the time to bring out your top notch self. Gentlemen, rock the fedoras of any color spectrum, it will make a statement.

The Shoes

Now for the shoes, be sure to remember you will be in grass all day long. Ditch the stilettos and go with a flat, booties, or a wedge heel. No one wants to be sinking into the grass or covered in mud. Go with a leather like material; it’s an easier clean up, avoid velvet at all costs. For the boys, rock the oxfords with no socks or even pair the oxfords or boots with some fun, funky socks. Try keeping the sneakers for the gym only.

The Clothes

Can you picture Hampton’s style? How about some southern charm? For the girls, add a flowing dress, a high-low skirt with a blouse that has texture, and bring a cardigan for when those rare moments it does get chilly. Arizona has a way of changing temperatures rather quickly.

For the gents, pull out those colorful shorts, button downs with a print, and throw on a blazer. Dark blue blazers really make a statement and throw on a lapel to bring out your personality.

Pastels and brights will be seen all over the polo event, keep to these colors and try leaving the darks at home.
