She is sharing her knowledge with us in this weekly column and this week Tracey shares ways to truly enjoy the holiday time with friends and family.

Committing to live a more “Sustainable” way of life. It isn’t really something that you “do”. It is a lifestyle that shows in the choices you make in your home, fashion, food, wellness and relationships. It is the way you chose to “move” through the the world.

The holidays are in full swing and we all know how fast they go. We are caught up with buying, eating and consuming. I want to make you think about other ways to truly enjoy the holiday time with friends and family. A few new things to add to your list that will fill you up instead of deplete you. Think of ways to laugh, create lasting memories and have fun at the same time. These are the best gifts to give!

Why not invest in an experience instead of material things? Here are 3 great ideas for “An “Immersive Experience” for this holiday season.

For the Art minded person: Take a stroll through the Desert Botanical Garden at night! The Desert Botanical Garden lights up the night with beautiful “Las Noches De Las Luminarias.” There are more than 8000 hand lit luminaria bags, thousands of white twinkling lights and the sights and sounds of 10 entertainment ensembles, as well as bold monumental sculptures from Japanese American artist Jun Kaneko. Truly a Holiday experience in our beautiful desert.

For the adventurer and athlete: Take a drive up North. Challenge yourself at the Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. It is a suspended obstacle for adults and kids. There is even a zip line and a children’s course for the littles ages 7-11. The scenery up North is breathtaking and you might even see some snow!

For the charitable side: Head to the mall and pick a few Christmas Angels off the trees at Scottsdale Fashion Square and other locations around the Valley. These are the kinds of immersive experiences that feed your soul. Take the little ones in your family and show them the true meaning of giving during the holidays. Let everyone be a part of shopping, wrapping and giving gifts to children in need.

I hope this gets you thinking that some of the best gifts are not found under the tree. They are found in experiences. They are found through making memories.

Be sure to book these early. Send us some of your favorite holiday memories!

Sustainably Yours,
Tracey xo
