Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ
First job: Working for my dad at his sporting good store. He started me out in the basement sweeping floors, monitoring inventory, and checking in freight. It was the job nobody else wanted to do. My father taught me the value of hard work by starting me at the bottom.
Favorite AZ restaurant: PF Chang’s because that is where I met my wife.
Person who has impacted your life the most: My father because he inspired me to follow in his footsteps of playing Major League baseball as a child. Today he continues to inspire me even more as he battles cancer but yet doesn’t give into his current circumstance but continues to focus on his vision.
Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: Living out my childhood dream and playing Major League baseball for 15 seasons even though the world told me I wasn’t like my father and that I would never make it.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: The death of my little brother. Where in 1981 I gave him a bone marrow transplant which doctors deemed his only chance as long term survival. His body rejected my marrow that eventually put him into a coma and then he passed in March of 1981. I lived with sadness, anger and guilt. Today, I have replaced those feelings by being grateful for the 11 years I had my brother as a friend here on earth.
Someone who inspires you: Robin Sharma because of his willingness to serve others and create a lasting impact in their personal and business lives.
Favorite quote: Everything is possible, the impossible just hasn’t been done yet.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Nothing works unless you do.
What makes someone fabulous: Their Character
