SOL takes a classic such as guacamole and offers several variations and twists. We tried the guacamole piña with pineapple, bacon and jalapenos, a delicious twist on guacamole with the pineapple and jalapenos adding a sweet and spicy combination. Margaritas are also a specialty, of which they have plenty to try. My favorites included the blackberry ginger margarita and the watermelon margarita, both perfect on a warm summer day.

As classic Baja cooking includes fresh grilled meat and seafood, the menu had a wide variety of street tacos. Our samplings included shrimp taco dorado, taco bufalada, the fish taco gobernador with yellow tail, the sweet potato and black bean and the short ribs barbacoa en cazuela.

The evening was full of flavorful and fresh dishes. You could sense the chef’s passion for Baja cooking by success in delivery and the combination of flavors mixing perfectly. We ended the evening on a sweet note of nachos dulces, with chocolate drizzled on top, and the bananoli, a deep fried banana with a crunchy layer, dipped in chocolate.
