Fall has a very different definition for us Phoenicians than it does for those in other parts of the country. We long to wear boots and scarves and all those fun fall fashions, but we might suffer heat stroke trying to dress like that in Phoenix. Thankfully, fabulous stylist Risa Kotis of RISTYLE Consulting has some tips for us on how to modify those fall trends we love to suit our desert climate.
Look #1
– Microsuede (faux) short sleeved dressed
– Booties
*This look can also add a layer over or under the dress, for instance Risa loves putting a chambray shirt under and cuffing sleeve or even a turtleneck, or doing a light jacket over.
Look #2
– Cold Shoulder cotton sweater
– Skinny Jeans or even on it’s own as a dress
– Tennies or Booties
*A Casual look that works for our city, but still shows some skin while being casual. A great way to wear a sweater (we could even pair this with a cutoff jean short if we want to make it more “Arizona”…) without being too hot. Risa likes the idea of a half tuck in front and a sporty watch with basic gold short layering necklace. Hair in top knot.
Look #3
– Boho Maxi Dress
– Felt Hat
– Wedges or Booties
*Risa loves this look as it’s light fabric and a short bootie, perfect for AZ fall. Covered and seasonally appropriate, but still airy and not too warm. Pair with long layered gold necklaces.
Look #4
– Sleeveless Sweater
– Moto Leggings
– Moto Boots
*You can layer just a simple white tank or even a long sleeved top under if it’s more cold. Risa likes that the cape is versatile and you can play with zipper detail. A great way to layer, but still expose arms and keep the look transitional.
Look #5
– Silky Track Shorts
– Over the knee boots
– Thin turtleneck sweater or even a basic tee and faux leather jacket
*Risa loves still looking covered, but in AZ we can wear shorts year round. Pairing with a leather jacket when it’s cool enough, but for now this look is easy and weather-appropriate. Pair with Long chain necklace (like Kendra Scott Rayne).
