Cinco de Mayo in Phoenix

Cinco de Mayo, also known as Cinco de Drinko, falls on a Thursday this year and many bars and restaurants in town will be celebrating. Here is a list of some of the Cinco de Mayo festivities and special offers taking place in the Phoenix area on May 5th.

Sumo Maya

The Party starts at 11 a.m. on Cinco de Mayo at Sumo Maya in Scottsdale. The restaurant will be offering all day social hour pricing at the bar and there will be a DJ spinning tunes all night. Another fun twist, the first 100 people who bring at least 5 pesos can pay for their Casamigos Margarita with Mexican currency (limit 2 margaritas purchased with pesos per person).

Blanco Tacos + Tequila

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Blanco is making happy hour a day-long event. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. guests can enjoy happy hour drinks, which means $5 margaritas for everyone. Then from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., guests can enjoy happy-hour-priced food like $3 tacos and $3 nachos. Blanco is also rolling out their May Margartia of the Month: the Prickly Pear Margarita. Blanco Tacos + Tequila locations are at The Borgata in Scottsdale and Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix.

Modern Margarita

Modern Margarita at High Street in Phoenix is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with live music, piñata contests and drink specials. From 3pm to 2am, enjoy $8 Casa Noble margaritas, $6 shots, $4 Coronas, $6 gourmet tacos, $7 chicken nachos and 1/2 off Appetizers. The cost of admission is $10.

Sierra Bonita Grill

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, on May 5th, Sierra Bonita Grill in Phoenix will be offering two of its popular, made-to-order, fresh margaritas for only $5 all day long. During lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sierra Bonita Grill will also be offering five lunch specials for only $10 each. A variety of southwestern-inspired dishes will be served, including Chicharron Potato Taquitos, Chipotle Chicken Street Tacos, Red Chile Pork Tostadas, the SBG Sonoran-style Hot Dog, and a Green Chile Quesadilla.

Z’Tejas

Are you ready to take on the Habanero Inferno Taco Challenge on Cinco de Mayo? Order a plate of specially made fiery Z’Tejas Street Tacos. One of the four tacos is made with the hottest sauce in the world, but you won’t know which one! If you can eat all four tacos and complete the challenge you will get $5 off the normally $12 meal (excludes any happy hour priced tacos). While there, cool down with $5 Dulce Vida ‘Ritas and $3 Coronas all day on Cinco de Mayo. Z’Tejas has 5 locations in the Valley.

Taco Guild

Visit Taco Guild in Phoenix for $1.99 Cochinita Pibil Tacos, infused with Roger Clyne Tequila. They are also offering $3.00 Negro Modello and $5.50 Roger Clyne tequila cocktails. Make up your own Roger Clyne cocktail for a chance to have your drink featured on the menu until next Cinco de Mayo! There will also be live entertainment.

SOL Cocina

SOL Cocina at Scottsdale Quarter is celebrating Cinco de Mayo by offering five “caliente” deals. The Taco Vampiro, Taco Gobernador, Naked Guacamole, House Margarita made with El Jimidor Tequila and Watermelon Margarita made with El Jimidor Tequila will all be just $5 each. The specials will be happening all day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will also be a photo booth from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and live music with Scott Hallock.

Los Sombreros

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Los Sombreros in Scottsdale with 5 appetizers and 5 drinks for just $5 each. The $5 drinks include Mojitos, Martinis, Sangria and White or Red House Wine (beers are $2.50 for Dos Equis, $3.50 for other bottles). The $5 appetizers are Chips with Salsa & Guacamole; 3 Crispy Tacos including chicken, potato, picadillo or hibiscus; Corn Cake Souffle; Fig and Panela Cheese Salad; and Watermelon and Panela Cheese Salad. These $5 specials will be available all day beginning at 3pm on May 5th.
