Giving our skin the boost it needs to turn back time is getting easier! The skin care industry has made great strides over the years with technology that increases our skin’s integrity in healthier ways. Due to the technological advancement of Microneedling (aka. Collagen Induction Therapy), we can begin to repair our skin’s foundation by rebuilding what’s been lost and replenishing healthy, youthful skin.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling has gained popularity as a low-risk, highly effective treatment, that boosts collagen and increases product absorption by about 80%. Because there is no heat applied, microneedling is better for the skin and body. There is less downtime, low to no pain or discomfort, no risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, and faster results. In fact, it is the ONLY skin rejuvenation treatment that maximizes absorption of nutrients and the release of Growth Factors to aid in wound healing. It also preserves our skin’s integrity, which means less aging and firmer, stronger skin.
Why do we need Microneedling?
Our skin’s structure and support system is the foundation we need intact to maintain youth. Made up of blood circulation, collagen and elastin, our dermal layer is crucial to components keeping skin taut, lifted, strong, and smooth. Due to aging and to other environmental and internal conditions, our collagen, elastin, and rejuvenating resources decrease and start to break down. It’s like a house losing its foundation…once those building blocks start to deteriorate, the skin starts to sag and our lines and wrinkles form and become more pronounced!
What to expect during and after an appointment:
The Microneedling Treatment itself is relatively fast. From the consultation to the final vitamin and hydration application, clients should expect around 45 minutes to an hour. A light numbing cream is applied to the skin to take any edge off that clients may experience. Most of my clients do not experience any discomfort as the needles are tiny and move at a very fast speed. However, this precaution makes clients feel more comfortable and can help make more sensitive clients to take the edge off.
The microneedling itself is then performed with very fine, surgical stainless-steel microneedles to create microchannels. These allow for stimulation of our skin’s natural ability to heal itself and repair the damaged collagen. Cosmeceutical-grade nutrients and growth factors are applied to the skin for optimal nourishment and replenishment. Clients leave with tightened and glowing skin, and any pink or redness diminishes within 24-48 hours.
I include Rhonda Allison post care products for my clients to use for the next 7-10 days, which is important for proper hydration. I also include a post care Vitamin and Oxygen Treatment to further aid in increasing the skin’s health and collagen boosting ability. Because the skin is more accepting of products after microneedling, the post care is really important, as it will optimize the effects of the treatment and accelerate the anti-aging and corrective benefits to the skin.
I also like to remind my clients that getting this treatment is like going to the gym and eating a healthy diet. Microneedling is most effective when combined with the proper treatments before and in between, and products used at home.
It’s important to remember that as human beings, we will never be flawless. But fortunately with treatments like Microneedling, we can achieve what we really want: optimal skin health and to look and feel our best!
