The newest boutique resort to open in the Valley, Mountain Shadows, is set at the base of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley and is a modern take on its iconic 1950’s namesake.
The original Mountain Shadows opened in 1959 – an iconic property that set a new benchmark in the luxury hospitality industry. Rebuilt from the ground up by Woodbine Development and Westroc Hospitality, the new resort features 183 guest rooms, a presidential suite, a full-service restaurant, two pools, a high tech fitness facility, an 18-hole golf and lounge experience, as well as 37,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, and onsite luxury resort condominiums and lofts available for purchase.
While Mountain Shadows is a completely new build with modern architecture and sleek design features, thoughtful details throughout the resort honor the rich history of Paradise Valley and the property itself. Design elements include floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an abundance of outdoor patios and terraces, showcasing the property’s stunning views of Camelback Mountain and serene spaces. Scottsdale-based Allen + Philp Architects designed the resort and New York City interior design firm MARKZEFF conceptualized the interiors.
When you walk through the front doors of the resort you are immediately greeted with breathtaking views of the resort lawn and Camelback Mountain. The extremely helpful and friendly staff will check you in and guide you to your room. Upon checkin you will receive a text from concierge. Anything you need while staying there, you can simply send a text! Whether you have a question, need more drinks by the pool, towels to your room, etc., you will receive a quick response right to your cell phone.
The fitness facility offers a variety of equipment and free weights, as well as a fitness studio in which they host yoga, TRX, pilates and aerial yoga. Classes are open to the public for $25 and $20 for resort guests.
There are two pools with cabanas and lounge seating that is lined with palms trees and offers views of Camelback Mountain. The vibe is relaxing and also fun – it really can be whatever you make of it.
The rooms at Mountain Shadows resort are modern with concrete ceilings, glass enclosed shower and floor to ceiling windows, while still maintaining a feel of comfort and coziness. Practically every room on the property has beautiful and relaxing views.
The Presidential Suite offers a massive patio looking out to Camelback Mountain, overlooking the golf course and unobstructed views of the sunset.
You can enjoy a cocktail in the lounge or at the bar, or enjoy a delicious meal for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner at the resort restaurant Hearth ’61.
