Restaurant of the Week: The Cutting Board

The Cutting Board Bakery & Cafe located in Mesa serves a flavorful all vegan menu that features fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

The Cutting Board was founded in 2013 by Sean and Krystal Macdonald, who saw a need for a plant-based restaurant in their community. They are truly passionate about the food they create and the community they serve it to. They have also sought out sustainable and local sources for the ingredients they use in their dishes. They use Phoenix, Arizona-based True Garden, a premier vertical aeroponic food farm, for much of their produce. You can truly taste the difference in freshness in their greens.

They serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week and breakfast on the weekends. The breakfast menu includes a Tofu Scramble Breakfast Bowl, a Breakfast Burrito, Santa Monica French Toast and Biscuits & Gravy to name a few of the fan favorites.

Lunch and dinner options include Bowls, Sandwiches, Wraps, Burgers and Pizzas. Some of our favorites include the Hearty Bowl made with brown rice, roasted seasonal veggies, hummus, mixed lettuce greens, sweet potato, cilantro, hemp hearts and a side of cumin-lime vinaigrette. We also loved the gluten free Buffalo Cauliflower Wings made with Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Sauce.

Be sure to save room for dessert! The homemade baked goods are all vegan and some are also gluten free. Pair it with a locally roasted, freshly brewed coffee or latte, or a glass of wine or beer.
