CoolSculpting is based on the work of two Harvard doctors who were investigating a widespread phenomenon of dimples in children. They discovered that children who grew up eating a lot of popsicles were essentially freezing and killing the fat cells in their cheeks. This was occurring because fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than surrounding tissue.
Through a natural process, the fat cells were flushed out of their bodies, leaving them with dimples. Despite this amazing discovery, it would take decades before the technology existed to create a treatment built around this natural process.
Non-Surgical FDA-Cleared Fat Reduction
Today, CoolSculpting is the only non-surgical FDA-cleared procedure that freezes and kills fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue.
