Restaurant of the Week: PNPK

A dog-friendly patio and a menu featuring flights of various foods and wine help PNPK in North Scottsdale stand out from the crowd and gives restaurant-goers a unique option.

PNPK is best shared with friends. From the cozy atmosphere at the bar and in the dining area to the flights designed to be divided and conquered. The name is in honor of nearby Pinnacle Peak Mountain, which has provided much comfort and inspiration to PNPK owner Kelly Pruitt.

The wine list will take up most of the attention thanks to a wide array of wines by the glass that can be done in flights. There are specialty cocktails, however, including the Tickle Me PNPK Punch. One dollar from each Tickle Me PNPK Punch sold goes to the Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park, which helps maintain and care for the mountain. Other specialty cocktails are available, all with their own fun, area-based name.

Almost every section of the menu is geared towards choosing multiple items and dividing them amongst the table. One exception (unless you’re really familiar with your tablemates, I suppose) is in the “Eat Your Veggies” section. Five different healthy options with the ability to add-on from a variety of proteins.

There may be more flights leaving the kitchen at PNPK than the runway at nearby Scottsdale Airport. While not described as a flight on the menu, you can choose from a variety of deviled eggs. Standouts include the white truffle olive oil and chives egg and the bacon jam and caramelized onion egg. There are eight bruschetta choices and your flight will include three of your choosing. Charcuterie flights can include cheeses, meats or both.

The main “entrees” are the slider flights. You can choose two for $10, four for $19, or get six for $28. There’s over a dozen to choose from so everyone should be able to find something up their alley. A couple of our favorites were the short rib french dip slider and the traditional “Americana”. There is even a dessert flight available.

Happy Hour at PNPK is available daily until 6:30pm and the happy hour menu includes a majority of the food menu and discounted cocktails, wine and craft beer.
