Arizona Restaurant Week returns May 17-26, featuring some of the best restaurants in the valley and throughout the state. Once again, Fabulous Arizona is here to give you the lowdown on the best places to visit.
In case this is your first go-around, or you need an Arizona Restaurant Week refresher; restaurants offer a prix fixe meal, charging either $33 or $44 per person or occasionally, per couple. In some instances, a beverage may be included but tax and gratuity are not. Here are some of our favorites for Arizona Restaurant Week Spring 2019:
Prado ($44/person) – A visit to Prado at Omni Montelucia is the next best thing to a trip to the Andalusian region of Spain. The view of Camelback Mountain is a reminder of where you are as do the local ingredients used at every opportunity.
What is Fabulous? Wild Mushroom Linguine. The seasonal mushrooms provide extensive flavor and, combined with a garlic cream sauce, makes for a hearty, meat-free entree that will have you happy to go vegetarian for the evening.
J & G Steakhouse ($44/person) – Boasting some of the best views and highest accolades of any steakhouse in the Valley, Arizona Restaurant Week allows diners to enjoy J&G Steakhouse at The Phoenician for more than just a special occasion.
What is Fabulous? Grilled Hanger Steak. Although it’s one of the most underrated cuts in flavor and tenderness, it’s also one of the least sustainable; an event like Restaurant Week provides the opportunity to indulge. Your steak is served with a broccoli accompaniment, garlic, and chili. To learn more and see the full Restaurant Week menu, visit: https://arizonarestaurantweek.com/j-g-steakhouse/
Mowry & Cotton ($33/person) – The more casual of The Phoenician’s dining options also makes the list of must-visit restaurants during ARW. Don’t mistake the low-key vibe (and pricing) at Mowry & Cotton for a lesser experience. Thanks to rising star Executive Chef Tandy Peterson, the flavors and presentation coming out of the kitchen stands up to its more publicized “elder sibling” from above.
What is Fabulous? Charred beets. There’s nothing better than when a first-course dish steals the show. The varying textures and wide range of ingredients on this dish combine perfectly. To learn more and see the full Restaurant Week menu, visit: https://arizonarestaurantweek.com/mowery-cotton/
Modern OBCH ($44/person) – This is when ARW shines the brightest, when it provides the opportunity to check out an amazing new restaurant. If you haven’t heard of them yet, Fabulous Arizona recently featured them as the Restaurant of the Week.
What is Fabulous? M-Bomb. It’s difficult to choose anything over the steak or scallop option at Modern, but a rich, decadent ending from pastry chef Samantha Frankel is too good to pass up. Chocolate and chocolate on chocolate…oh my. To learn more and see the full Restaurant Week menu, visit: https://arizonarestaurantweek.com/modern-oyster-bar-chophouse/.
Citizen Public House ($33/person)
Citizen Public House is reliable and consistent – always a good choice. Serving Old Town Scottsdale since 2011, CPH has become a neighborhood staple and has maintained the level of excellence it established early on.
What is Fabulous? Red Rainbow Trout. Certain dishes tend to populate a high percentage of Restaurant Week menus. Red Rainbow Trout is a treat and not usually found on special menus like this. Take a break from the salmon and scallops and enjoy. To learn more and see the full Restaurant Week menu, visit: https://arizonarestaurantweek.com/citizen-public-house/
Beckett’s Table ($44/person, includes one selected beverage) – Beckett’s Table is approaching ten years as one of the most ardent supporters of local purveyors and Arizona wine. In that time, owner/executive chef Justin Beckett has built a loyal following in Arcadia and beyond. Restaurant Week provides the perfect opportunity to return the favor and support one of the “good ones” in the community.
What is Fabulous? Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta. Sometimes the simple desserts are the best ones. Served with strawberries, this Italian classic is the perfect ending to one of Beckett’s savory entrees… and to this preview.
