Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System
The Lexus GX 460 has a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that is designed to change with the terrain. By automatically fixing the front and rear stabilizer bars in place when on-road, it helps to minimize body lean when making turns. If you are off-roading, it allows each wheel to move more independently, so a wheel on uneven ground can react while the other wheels are relatively unaffected. This system allows the car to drive smoothly whether you’re taking a tight turn on the city streets or off-roading in the desert.
Safety Technology
We aren’t as used to driving a large SUV like this, so the Blind Spot Monitor and Cross-Traffic Alert safety features helped us get used to the size with confidence. The Blind Spot Monitor is designed to detect and warn you of vehicles in the lanes next to you so you can change lanes safely. And for added peace of mind, the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert can help you when backing out of a parking space by notifying you of vehicles approaching from either side that you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise.
Rain-sensing Wipers
We drove the Lexus GX 460 up to Flagstaff and experienced some rain while driving through the mountains. Keeping both hands on the wheel and having a clear view through the windshield was important on the winding roads. The rain-sensing system detects moisture on the glass, then automatically turns on the wipers and continuously adjusts their speed. This was a great safety feature for our road trip.
