Arizonans rejoice—legal sports betting is finally live here in the Valley, and bettors and sports aficionados alike can get in on the fun of the activity thanks to Caesars Entertainment Inc.
To celebrate sports betting’s legalization within the state, the gaming operator—in partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks—hosted a celebration at Chase Field, along with the help of Emmy-nominated actor and comedian JB Smoove, the national spokesperson for Caesars Sportsbook and the Caesars Betting App.
Smoove—who has garnered attention for his work in projects like “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Saturday Night Live”—stars as the charismatic “Caesar” in the brand’s advertising national campaign, and admitted that he, in many ways, felt as if the role was “made for him.”
“I’ve had visions of me being an emperor or a ruler—I like everyone to win, and I don’t want anyone to be ruled by me, I’d rather us rule together. I think that’s just how I’ve carried my career,” says Smoove. “With this character, I really think the Caesar campaign was built for me. Right now, I can’t imagine anybody else putting on this costume and embodying him like I can.”
The celebration event kicked off the beginning of a thoughtful partnership between Caesars and the Diamondbacks, which includes a plan to construct a two-story sportsbook and sports bar at Chase Field with a design strategy “fit for an emperor.”
While the sportsbook and bar isn’t set to open until early 2022, visitors and fans can continue placing in-person bets via walk-up betting kiosks, which will be located on the north size of the stadium’s plaza.
Plus, in addition to any of the in-person bets being accepted at Chase Field, the brand-new Caesars Sportsbook app is also finally available for download by Arizona customers.
The app literally provides the fun of betting at your fingertips, with access to Caesars’ industry-leading loyalty program, Caesars Rewards and VIP offerings through the D-backs.
Between the legalization of sports betting in Arizona and the mobile integration of the activity via the Caesars’ app, sports fans can be more engaged with their favorite players and teams than ever before. And for Smoove—a huge sports fan, himself—he personally can’t wait to see how the campaign helps evolve sports betting on the national scale.
“It’s hard to compare it, but you think about the energy around horse racing and the Kentucky Derby—it’s just amazing. Now imagine having a fragment of that at your fingertips. You can’t replicate that excitement!” says Smoove. “Plus, this location is going to be beautiful, with the stadium and downtown area. And I think as long as you bet responsibly, you can really just have a lot of fun with all of this. And I can’t wait to come back and see everything!”
