Chihuly in the Desert

Chihuly in the Desert at Desert Botanical Garden and Taliesin West

Combining art and architecture inspired by nature, Dale Chihuly will be returning to the Sonoran Desert to showcase his latest exhibit, Chihuly in the Desert, at Desert Botanical Garden and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West from Dec. 3, 2021 through June 19, 2022. Tickets to attend will be on sale starting Oct. 4.

The joint exhibitions will feature the same stunning installations, but each location will feature its own unique method to display each piece, giving a new experience to guests who visit both of Chihuly’s installments. The art captures the elegance of desert terrains and highlights elements like saguaros, Papago Buttes and landmark buildings. This is the first time Chihuly is back in Valley since the first showing in 2008.

At the Desert Botanical Garden, guests will experience installments hidden among the plant life, in an indoor gallery in Dorrance Hall, and purposely placed among the Garden’s trails. This display is best enjoyed during the transitioning seasons when the changing plants and setting complement the light, form and colors from each display.

At Taliesin West, the glass art installments can be found indoors, on Wright’s lawn, floating on water beds and scattered across the desert itself. Each piece will feature dialogue from both Chihuly and Wright, who will share their knowledge and experiences in a way no one has experienced or heard before.
