Artlink’s à la MODE Exhibition Celebrates the Conjunction of Fashion and Art

For a limited time, Phoenix’s Mood Room is playing host to Artlink’s à la MODE Exhibition—an “artful topping” to the Tableau Vivant showcase, which celebrates the flavors of fashion through art.

Artlink has brought together local artists in Loretta Tedeshi-Cuoco (@art_ltc), Erik Karvonen (@karvonen_art) and Dream Amorie (@aik.selena) to display fashionable creations which tap into the techniques of sketch art, digital art working and graphic design, all while evoking emotions of nostalgia.

“Artlink approached us—obviously, having seen the work on our websites and knowing each of our individual flavors. We each just kind of brought in the best of the best from our own portfolios to this exhibition, and it all really works quite elegantly together,” says Karvonen.

The à la MODE Exhibition is especially unique with the diversity in the featured art. Each contributing artist offers a unique flair and tone in their projects—with some having practiced their style for years, while others found a new creative approach (and even outlet) through the pandemic.

Tedeschi-Cuoco, for example, has created illustration projects for clients such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Disney, NIKE, Burberry’s and Macys, all while teaching at Parsons School of Design during her career in New York City. Most recently, her work was featured in several fashion publications in the UK, where she also led a Masterclass in Fashion Illustration.

Karvonen, on the other hand, is an award-winning graphic designer and artist, and has art directed and styled editorial fashion shoots over 20 years. His style embodies a Warhol-esque vibe, with bold color pops and sharp structural backdrops.

And Amorie, the youngest of the bunch, is a Phoenix-based emerging artist and fashion designer who founded the Lemon clothing line in 2019. Her artistic contributions play into themes of classic Vogue covers that have been revamped through distorted shapes and cooler color palettes.

The à la MODE Exhibition pays homage to the history of fashion, and the beauty in seeing classic works through a more revamped and modern perspective.

The showcase will be on display through mid-January, and is located at Phoenix’s Mood Room at Park Central 3121 N. 3rd Ave. #100. Guests can also take in the wonders of live fashion displays at the correlating Tableau Vivant • Holiday Edition event—another showcase from Artlink which features live mannequins and creative holiday window installations.
