Arizona’s Best Main Streets During the Holidays

While Arizona doesn’t exactly have a reputation for conventional Christmas staples, the state does boast a number of charming cities and towns that transform their main streets into holiday wonderland’s come winter. Here are some of Arizona’s best main streets that will make you feel like you’re in a Hallmark movie.

Prescott

The town of Prescott is undoubtedly Arizona’s best Christmas escape, as the city plays host to light parades and festive events all throughout the holiday season. The annual courthouse lighting at the Courthouse Plaza is also an unmissable experience, as vendors, Christmas carolers and holiday-esque booths line the streets during the day, and a spectacular parade—complete with Santa himself—debuts in the evening.

Williams

The city of Williams is located just west of Flagstaff, and is a few hours outside of the Grand Canyon. Year round, Williams is beloved for its nostalgic charm and street walls adorned with encompassing murals by local artists. But come Christmas time, the town becomes a huge attraction for those looking to ride the Polar Express train—which is an enchanting train ride (and an ode to the animated film) that departs from the Williams Depot and takes guests on an entertaining trip that’s complete with great photo ops, hot chocolate and a ride to Santa’s village.

Glendale

You haven’t seen an unbelievable light display until you’ve seen Glendale Glitters—a family-friendly event that features 1.6 million lights on display throughout Glendale’s historic trees, along with hand-crafted holiday gifts, booths, live entertainment and the local flavors of the city. To top off an already exquisite holiday excursion, visitors can also enjoy a ride through Downtown Glendale via horse-drawn carriages.

Bisbee

Year round, visitors can find Bisbee adorned with lights strung across its iconic main street. But during the holiday season, the town transforms into a prime holiday destination with light festivals, unique events, and the best Christmas window shopping in the state.

Mesa

Mesa’s Main Street is lit up at night during the holiday season with gorgeous lights displays, and visitors will often even find a large Christmas tree and ice skating rink too. The kiddos can also enjoy a visit with Santa, along with a Holiday Snow Globe Hunt where you can search for hidden figurines festooned with jeweled red ribbon.
