With visions of sugar plum fairies, snowflakes, and the magic of Christmas, journey through the Kingdom of Sweets and The Land of Snow during Ballet Arizona’s The Nutcracker, taking place at Symphony Hall in Downtown Phoenix from Dec. 6 to Dec. 24.
A cherished tradition in the Valley since 2006, The Nutcracker returns for the holiday season. This performance was choreographed by Artistic Director Emeritus Ib Andersen, with live sounds by the renowned Phoenix Symphony. Seventeen enchanting performances will take place this year, bringing families together for an unforgettable holiday spectacle.
Critically acclaimed by The New York Times senior dance critic Alastair Macaulay, who called the Ballet Arizona’s The Nutcracker “one of the three finest productions” in the nation, this enchanting ballet performance captures the wonder of Clara’s journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. Watch the Nutcracker Prince battle the towering Mouse King (standing at nine feet tall) and snowflakes dance in a dreamlike world brought to life with a $1.8 million budget, intricate effects, and over 100,000 Swarovski crystals.
“From Clara’s tense battle with the Mouse King to the ethereal snow scene, The Nutcracker has something for everyone,” says Ballet Arizona’s Artistic Director Daniela Cardim, in a press release. “Our company dancers have worked tirelessly on this show, and I am excited to share our holiday magic with Arizona audiences.”
Elevate your evening with the Capture the Magic VIP Premier Package for $125 per family of four, which includes early entry to Symphony Hall, a keepsake photo with the Sugar Plum Fairy, hot chocolate, complimentary parking, and other exclusive perks like a Ballet Arizona tote bag, pointe shoes signed by a dancer, one voucher for a Ballet Arizona class, one $20 Ballet Arizona gift card, and 15 percent off of The Nutcracker boutique in the lobby.
In addition to the magical performances, Ballet Arizona will also host The Nutcracker Angel Night on Dec. 12, aiding the ballet school’s mission to help children and families witness The Nutcracker for free this holiday season.
