Featured Comedian Q&A: Flip Schultz

Flip-SchultzComedian Flip Schultz is performing June 29-30 at Stand Up, Scottsdale! Comedy Club. Check out Fab AZ’s exclusive interview with Flip Schultz:

Q: Where are you from?
A: Originally from Plantation, Fl., but I live in Los Angeles now.

Q: How long have you been doing comedy?
A: This is my 20th year.

Q: How was your first gig? Was it immediately gratifying, or did you bomb at first?
A: My first time on stage was a little bit gratifying and “bomby”. I had wanted to be a standup comedian since I was 8 years old, so when I was 18 I did my first open mike and it was really amazing so say to myself “yes, I finally did it!” And the reaction from the crowd (which was pretty much my family) was nice, but looking back on the video (which I still have), it was awful.

Q: What can comedy goers expect from you at Stand-up, Scottsdale! This weekend?
A: People are going to have a blast! Plain and simple. People will laugh a lot and leave feeling really good. I don’t expect to change anyone’s opinion about politics or anything like that; I just plan on making people laugh.

Q: what is the source of inspiration for your comedy?
A: Lately it’s been coming from a lot of personal stories that have happened to me; Especially since I’ve been married. I also get inspiration from what I see around me in the world. It’s very empowering to finally know my comedic voice and how to express it.

Q: How do you keep yourself busy while on tour/traveling/performing?
A: A lot of porn.

Q: What has been your memorable comedy milestones so far?
A: Opening for George Carlin & “Weird Al”. Also traveling to Iraq to entertain our troops & touring Europe several times over the past 6 years.

Q: If you could buy one thing for everybody in the country, what would it be?
A: If there really was something called ‘a chill pill’, that would be in. This country needs one.

Q: What’s an interesting fact that people wouldn’t know about you?
A: Don’t know; my life is an open book.

Q: Where can people find more information about you? Anything coming up we should know about?
A: You can always go to my website: www.flipschultz.com & I’m starring in a movie that I just finished shooting. It’s tentatively called ‘tick tock’ and should be out later this year.
