Channel the spirit of Churchill Downs at these local Kentucky Derby parties, where you’re invited to don your fanciest hat and get your yearly fill of Mint Juleps while checking out the “fastest two minutes in sports.” Kentucky Derby events take place May 7.

Kentucky Derby Lawn Party at Bourbon Steak

On May 7 from 1 to 4 p.m., the Kentucky Derby Lawn Party, taking place at Bourbon Steak at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, welcomes event-goers with a Mint Julep or Champagne split, five drink tickets, traditional Derby eats (like fried chicken biscuits, hushpuppies, deviled eggs and much more), lawn games, DJ music, raffle drawings and the chance to participate in a fashion show. Tickets are $169.

FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel

FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel hosts its Kentucky Derby Day Party on Saturday, May 7. Beginning at 11 a.m., guests can enjoy a themed brunch buffet with signature cocktails served in souvenir glassware, continual Derby coverage, contests all day long and more. Kentucky Derby-style high fashion is encouraged. Cost is $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Tickets are available at here.

The 5th Annual Bulleit Bourbon Derby DayClub: Presented by Sanderson Lincoln marks the state’s largest Kentucky Derby Party, taking place at Turf Paradise on Saturday, May 7. General admission tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.ThePoloParty.com/Derby. General admission includes admission to Turf Paradise, the air-cooled Sanderson Lincoln Black Label Lounge Tent along the track, the Ketel One Botanical Pavilion open-air tent, betting terminals inside Turf Paradise, no-host bar including Mint Juleps, beer, wine and cocktails, DJ and 65-in. TVs to watch the Kentucky Derby and live horse racing at Turf Paradise. The Bulleit Bourbon Derby DayClub opens at 10:45 a.m. Proceeds from this year’s Bulleit Bourbon Derby DayClub 50/50 raffle will benefit the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona. General admission tickets are currently $40 online or $45 at the door. 

Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby Fundraiser

The Phoenix 2030 Club hosts its inaugural Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby Fundraiser on May 7 from noon to 8 p.m. at Wasted Grain in Scottsdale, with all proceeds benefiting the Children in Need Foundation. The Kentucky Derby watch party will feature a special performance by country singer Austin Burke, live music from Georgia Chrome, whiskey tastings by Tucson-based distillery Whiskey Del Bac, Mint Juleps, Southern-style cuisine, a best hat contest, sports betting for charity and raffle prizes and other Derby-themed festivities. Event tickets begin at $89 for general admission, with VIP tickets and VIP tables also available.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub

Thirsty Lion Gastropub offers specialty $8 Mint Julep cocktails as well as race viewing at its Valley locations (Chandler, Phoenix, Gilbert and Tempe) on Saturday, May 7.

The Montauk

The Montauk in Old Town Scottsdale celebrates with an all-day event complete with an extension into the parking lot, entertainment from local DJs, brunch and photographers to capture all the Derby action. Come dressed to the nines with your best hat and sip on Mint Juleps and Chandon Spritz.
