The group that brought Mia Francesca to Arizona opened their third location of Davanti Enoteca in Scottsdale with Peter DeRuvo as the Executive Chef.

Davanti features a rustic and ambient patio with fire and water features and a dining room with old world decor with unique design elements using reclaimed wood, bricks, wine barrels, light fixtures made from old kitchen utensils, wine jugs, chicken feeders and harvest baskets. Communal tables are featured on the patio, bar and dining room to further enhance the convivial and warm dining experience.

The menu is meant to be explored and shared by the table and offers guests the opportunity to try a variety of distinct items.

Instant classics include the boards that are presented to the table. The Foccacia de Recco is a flaky Ligurian style foccacia, baked and stuffed with creamy melted crescenza cheese and served with honeycomb to spread on the warm pastry (this was a Fab AZ favorite!).

Pizza, pasta and piatti round out the selections. The pasta is house made daily and the simple Cacio e Pepe with pecorino and black pepper epitomizes the delicious simplicity of Italian cuisine and the Ricci di Mare e Granchio, linguine with sea urchin and crab is a taste of the Mediterranean coast of Italy. Pizza della Terra with foraged mushrooms, braised leeks, taleggio and truffle oil or Pizza della Fattoria with farmed egg, pork belly, potato, scallions, asiago and bechamel round out more traditional selections. Piatti (larger plates) include Polpo con Rafano, seared octopus, warm fingerling potato salad, marcona almonds, finnochiona and fresh horseradish aioli is a fresh take on seafood and the Maiale alla Pastra, pork blade steak with heirloom bean ragu, arugula, spiced honey, sea salt and local olive oil is a unique alternative to steak. Dolci round out the menu with Goat Cheese Cheese Cake, Spiced Brownie Gelato Sandwich, semifreddo and afogatto.

The well curated wine list was well chosen by the managers at Davanti who have both lived and worked in vineyards in Italy. The list offers 30 wines by the glass, 30 whites by the bottle, 48 red selections with a heavy Old World Italian Influence. A cocktail list will also feature the original Harry’s Bar Bellini recipe and other classic Italian cocktails.

To top off the fabulous decor, food and drink selections is exceptional service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, making a meal at Davanti an absolutely great experience.
