A Sweet Summer at The Strawberry Inn

Tucked into the heart of Arizona’s Rim Country sits The Strawberry Inn, a boutique getaway in the quiet mountain town of Strawberry. The reimagined roadside inn is only two hours from the Valley and offers a stylish, laidback escape for couples, families, and friend groups this summer and beyond.

Originally built in the 1960s as a Dutch-style commercial building, the property evolved through various uses before being purchased in 2016 by Amber and Carson Eilers, a local couple with backgrounds in real estate and hospitality. What started as an eight-room renovation project quickly grew into The Strawberry Inn, a thriving collection of over 30 unique lodging options, including tiny cottages, trendy vintage airstreams, and cozy cabins. The couple’s hands-on approach and design-forward vision turned a once-forgotten spot into a Rim Country destination.

The Strawberry Inn radiates relaxation for those looking to get away, perfect for a romantic weekend, a low-key bachelorette, or unplugged family stay. With swing sets, climbing domes, and designated play areas throughout the property, it’s a haven for little adventurers. Adults will appreciate the ultra-soft linens, intentional design, and perfectly placed red porch chairs for morning coffee or sunset chats. White shiplap interiors, minimalist lighting, and curated vintage touches give each space a fresh, elevated feel. Some cottages and cabins are even dog-friendly, and there is an on-site dog run for your four-legged family members.

The on-site Windmill Coffee shop opens early and serves up perfectly brewed espresso drinks, teas, and local pastries. The coffee alone is worth the trip, smooth, rich, and made to sip slowly on the patio. Just a few minutes away, PIEbar serves delicious empanadas like the green chile chicken or mac and cheese. You can also purchase bottled cocktails to go. It’s a can’t miss for a casual, quick bite. For a delectable breakfast, head to The Early Bird Cafe, where the cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos made it clear why it’s a local favorite.

Spend an afternoon treasure hunting through Strawberry and Pine’s quirky thrift and antique shops. Moose Mountain, Fancy Finds, and The Rusty Pinecone are goldmines for vintage homeware, retro books, and hidden gems. Later, a stop at Pine Creek Lavender Farm brings mountain views and lavender-scented soaps and oils.

Each stay feels personalized, warm, and thoughtful, down to the Little Free Library, plethora of yard games, and front lawn Adirondack chairs. It’s no surprise that this has become a go-to spot for casual weekenders, the site of proposals, and everything in between. (You may even spot elk during your stay!)

The Strawberry Inn is open year-round, with lodging options for two to 10 guests, making it a versatile home base in every season. Windmill Coffee is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to noon.
