Waymo has reached a milestone in its expansion efforts, announcing that Waymo One riders now have round-the-clock access to curbside pickups and drop-offs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s terminals three and four.
Waymo’s presence at Phoenix Sky Harbor has been steadily growing since the company began offering service to the airport in December 2022. Waymo recently surpassed 100,000 total trips to and from Sky Harbor. Initially, Waymo provided curbside terminal access overnight, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., starting December 2023. A phased rollout of 24/7 service began in June, and the company is now serving thousands of airport trips weekly, with an average trip rating consistently above 4.7 out of 5 stars.
“Sky Harbor is the first airport in the country to offer this great service. We are excited to continue and improve options and service at Phoenix Sky Harbor,” says Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego on her social media platforms.
Waymo’s expansion comes at a crucial time, while tourism increases as cooler weather and university students return this fall. With a service area now covering 315 miles, Waymo uses this increased accessibility as an excellent opportunity to introduce more people to the convenience and benefits of autonomous ride services.
