Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa

Nature meets nurture at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa, a sophisticated Sonoran retreat nestled in the Catalina Foothills in Tucson.

Taking the turn off Ina Road, away from 55-miles-an-hour-plus whizzing traffic and crossing the threshold onto the grounds of Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa is as if time stops in the most enchanting way. Enter a world of tranquility, timelessness and family-friendly activities that make memories to last a lifetime. And not just IG story-worthy memories–the ones that inspire you to print (OG-style) and put in a frame on the mantle.

Originally built as a hacienda-style family home in 1912, the heart and soul of Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa is vibrant, comforting and rich in history. Set on 80 acres of pristine Sonoran Desert in Tucson, the rooms and suites offer breathtaking views of the Arizona landscape.

As for the must-dos during your stay, first and foremost book a tour with Grounds Manager Raymundo Campo, whose passion for the flora and fauna is entertaining, educational and awe-inspiring. If flora is your fancy, visit during spring when the ocotillos, prickly pear cactus and barrel cactus are in bloom. Campo may even pluck the ocotillo flowers for you to try (they taste like honey!) or break open a yellow fruit from a barrel cactus and talk about how desert foxes enjoy them as a tasty snack.

The on-site Sonoran Spa Tucson offers signature farm-to-body treatments with seasonal ingredients grown on property in the Wellness Garden. Enjoy body treatments infused with citrus in the spring, aloe vera and mint in the summer and pomegranates from the property trees in the fall. Book a session with Spa Director Rachel Vague for an energy-cleansing Sound Bath. Sound waves massage the energy fields to create a harmonizing aura. Say hello to happiness and the radiating glow afterwards.

Horses have been a staple part of the property for over a hundred years. In the 1930’s, Westward Look was even a dude ranch. Today, the horse ranch is run by Catalina Riding Club, owned by Rose and Robert English. Enjoy an early-morning or sunset trail ride for an inspiring immersion into the Sonoran Desert landscape. Along your ride, you’ll be encouraged to take a pause and admire the 300-year-old saguaros, the universal symbol of the American West. Your guide may even suggest taking a handful of creosote bush, crumbling it in between your fingers and inhaling the fresh aroma that smells like rain. New riders will find comfort in the calm demeanor of the horses at Catalina Riding Club. Some may even nudge you for a head cuddle. After your ride, take a refreshing dip in one of the three crystal-clear sparkling pools or unwind in the Jacuzzis.

Before dining at Palm Restaurant at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa, pop by the game room where an entire wall is adorned with memories and moments at the resort captured decades ago. Moments of joy, laughter and breaking bread with family and friends. Once at Palm, settle into a booth to bask in the morning sun pouring in from the oversized windows while enjoying French toast sticks with homemade blueberry jam, cinnamon whipped cream and maple syrup or a benedict board with Canadian bacon, spinach and hollandaise on an English muffin. For the evening, dine al fresco on the patio overlooking the sparkling lights of Tucson. Enjoy the quesabirria, three tacos with chili-braised beef short rib, cilantro and onions, shaved radish, queso fresco, avocado crema and consommé for the most rewarding running-down-your-chin kind of dunk. Sip the night away with the Sonoran Flower, with 400 Conejos Mezcal, elderflower, prickly pear syrup, lime and lemon juice, because although the traffic may continue to whiz by on Ina Road, you are tucked away enjoying timeless tradition.
