What to Wear: Barrett-Jackson, Collector Car Auction Event

Whether or not fashion is a significant part of your day-to-day, attendees love dressing the part for Barrett-Jackson, a nine-day collector car auction kicking off Jan. 21 at WestWorld in Scottsdale.

There is a method in selecting what to wear to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. The saying goes ā€œdonā€™t peak too soon.” As the auction progresses over the week with more extravagant vehicles, so should your wardrobe. Despite no specific dress code aside from bag restrictions, itā€™s best to start the week off casually chic and slowly elevate your wardrobe moving forward.

Wardrobe stylists at Luxe and Cityā€™s Fashion House present their trend forecast as ā€œautomotive chic style.” Using iconic colors from both the fashion and car industries, the team combined metallics, reds, blacks and whites to create a clean, bold aesthetic, then layered with materials like leather and denim to create timeless looks with an edge.

Creating a base outfit is key, and from there you can choose to accessorize as much or as little as you would like. Keep it simple with a bold pop of color, such as Rocioā€™s silver leather jacket and Daisjionā€™s red wool coat, or take it a step further and dive into the theme. Carolyn Jackson, VP of Brand Strategy and Chief Philanthropy Officer, says attendees have used their favorite cars as inspiration even down to the design of their nails.

Donā€™t be afraid to pair similar colors and fabrics. Zadeā€™s black leather jacket and black-brown leather pants are complemented by stripes, fur lining and cargo pockets to create that unique edgy style.

One way to upgrade a simple black and white outfit is by mixing different materials like model Pascale. A white long-sleeve with a feminine and dainty neckline complements her black knit maxi skirt. This look is perfect for indoor and outdoor weather; covered up enough to stay warm and just lightweight enough to stay cool.

With the activities spread throughout the indoor and outdoor areas of WestWorld of Scottsdale, stilettos are not a practical option. Instead, consider boots or comfortable shoes with a short thick heel.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, Barrett-Jackson highlights The Future Collector Car Show with a newly added fashion show aspect, followed by the Opening Night Gala. Cocktail attire becomes more appropriate as the gala kicks off before the collector cars begin to roll across the auction block. Think blacks, silks, suits, and metallics.

Suits and coats are acceptable but can be dressed up with a little finesse. Subtle patterns like the shimmering floral pattern on Daisjionā€™s suit jacket is a great example of this.

This is also a great opportunity for wearing cocktail dresses. A mini- or midi-length dress is perfect for this portion of the Barrett-Jackson event. With a focus on blacks and whites, these outfits can be spiced up with red strappy heels, full-glam makeup, a bold red lip and even some statement jewelry.

While some opt for a totally freshened-up look for the gala, hair stylist Sandra Goodman emphasizes styles that can flow well into the night, such as a ponytail turned to a sleek bun or freshening up curls from the morning.

Known as ā€œThe Worldā€™s Greatest Collector Car Auctions,ā€ Barrett-Jackson is an event that connects fashion and cars. Dressing the part means keeping it all-American classic with small statements of individuality and ultimately, love for these collector cars.Ā
