What’s New for the 90th WM Phoenix Open

The 2025 WM Phoenix Open, also known as “The People’s Open,” is set to deliver an upgraded experience for its milestone 90th edition. Hosted by The Thunderbirds, the annual tournament has announced several enhancements to improve the fan experience, including a new entrance, digital ticketing, expanding walking areas, and upgraded general admission venues.

WM Phoenix Open returns to TPC Scottsdale from Feb. 3 to Feb. 9. For its 90th edition, the Open promises to celebrate tradition while introducing new, exciting experiences for fans. The Taylor Morrison Fairway House at the 12th hole is set to undergo a redesign aimed at creating a more expansive and enjoyable time for fans. The updated layout will offer improved accessibility, enhanced viewing areas, and additional space for upgraded concessions and new fan activities. Similarly, the Desert Oasis BBQ and Beer Garden near the 7th hole will feature upgrades, including elevated vantage points overlooking multiple holes. Fans can look forward to savoring a variety of craft beers and delicious barbeque from Little Miss BBQ, all within a more welcoming, fan-centric atmosphere.

“Each and every year, The Thunderbirds review the previous tournament and look for ways to improve,” says Matt Mooney, 2025 WM Phoenix Open tournament chairman, in a recent press release. “We’ve been working closely with the PGA TOUR, Scottsdale Police and Fire, title sponsor WM, and our other valued partners to make impactful changes for 2025. We are excited to announce these enhancements as the countdown to ‘The People’s Open’ begins.”

For easy entry and exit during high-attendance days, a new entrance will open on Greenway Hayden Loop, north of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. near the 18th tee. The Greenway Hayden Loop will close to general traffic during the tournament, ensuring smooth access for attendees. In addition, walkways around the course have been expanded to accommodate the high foot traffic in popular areas. The path between the 17th fairway and the 11th hole tee, traditionally a bottleneck, has been doubled in width. Food and beverage vendors will also be strategically relocated to balance crowd movement.

“We understand the importance of ease and accessibility for our fans to navigate the golf course,” says Mooney, in a press release. “Expanding these key walkways and repositioning some of our vendors, particularly around high-traffic areas like the 16th and 10th holes, will provide fans better access to popular venues and viewing areas. The additional entrance will significantly improve the flow of fans entering and exiting TPC Scottsdale. This entrance will provide relief at our main entrance and offer a much shorter walk for those fans in high-demand areas near holes 16, 17, and 18.”

Plus, 2025 tournament introduces an all-digital ticketing system for general admission and Coors Light Birds Nest events. This streamlined system is expected to expedite entry and offer improved crowd management capabilities.

“We are upgrading technology to provide a more seamless experience for our fans who purchase general admission tickets,” says Mooney, in a press release. “By eliminating physical general admission tickets, good-any-day tickets, and tickets sold by third-party partners, we not only improve the buying and scanning process, we also improve our oversight of crowd management.”

WM Phoenix Open festivities will kick off on Feb. 1, with country superstar Blake Shelton and three-time Grammy winner Gwen Stefani co-headlining the Concert in the Coliseum at the iconic 16th hole. The pair will perform on a custom-built stage, with Stefani opening at 5:30 p.m. and Shelton taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
