WFH Spaces

Making the most out of a situation takes open-mindedness and the willingness to change in order to gain something better than it was. This is what numerous companies had to do during the time of strict lockdowns when COVID-19 hit. Many large and small businesses were left with no other choice than to provide their employees the tools they needed to be able to work from home. This transition allowed people to feel more productive as they were able to have a healthier work-life balance, avoid commuter traffic and even create a more comfortable working space from their own home. This is where professionals in the design industry noticed a huge shift in the WFH or “working from home” situation. Office furniture sold out within the first couple of weeks of lockdown mandates and continued to be out of stock for weeks and weeks after. With all of the uncertainty of when employees would go back to the office and all of the freedom of working in sweatpants, people started to notice the real advantages of having the ability to work from home.

Almost two years after the beginning of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, companies have shifted the way they operate and have remained either entirely remote or taken a hybrid approach allowing employees to decide where they want to work from. Working-from-home spaces is more of a movement than a trend at this point. People have transformed all kinds of areas within their homes into a comfortable and appropriate working space. Home offices/workstations are being created out of necessity whether that is by simply adding a desk behind a sofa in the living room or transforming an entire spare bedroom into an office—the possibilities are endless as long as you are willing to work with what you have.

Be mindful of function and aesthetics at the same time without sacrificing either of the two in order to achieve a space that is curated and thought out. You also have the option to seek professional help and this is where interior designers come in and do their magic; they are able to easily visualize and create an environment that is suitable for a freelancer or a 9-to-5 employee. Your job may be stressful but your workspace situation shouldn’t have to be. As we enter a new year, let’s not only hope it comes with new opportunities but with a better supply chain as well because work from home spaces are here to stay.
