Multi-Functional Spaces at Home

Multifunctional spaces are coming in hot in 2022 and are here to stay, in my opinion. Living in quarantine for months allowed many people (especially design enthusiasts) to realize how they use each space in their home, and this brought the opportunity to create better room functionality in a single room.

Multifunction spaces are created to serve more than one purpose, such as a home office doubling up as a library. This concept allows people to spend more time doing what they need to do and minimizes the amount of space needed to perform any of these activities. There are ways to combine several functions within one area while still allowing you to feel incredibly productive.

A good example is combining living, dining and workspace; adding a dining table with a mix of seating, whether it’s a variety of chair styles or incorporating a bench. This solution provides the opportunity to add a super comfy chair that can be used for seating during work hours. The living room and library can also be merged by bringing these two spaces together and creating a bookcase wall around the sofa or TV.

It’s important to try and think outside of the box when coming up with creative ways to designate or combine the functions of a room. This is especially true when you feel limited with space and don’t want to compromise aesthetics so you can have the opportunity to do the activities you enjoy.
