Desert Design Week is a 10-day collaboration that spotlights design, art, and architecture throughout the Valley from April 3 to April 12. With real estate agents, home-buyers, decor enthusiasts, art lovers, and foodies in mind, Desert Design Week has curated a list of events that bring together the artistic value of each expertise and interest under one experience. Whether attending private chef dinners, cocktail hours, market pop-ups, gallery presentations, or home tours, guests of Desert Design Week are able to experience the many aptitudes that ignite our senses. Here are three can’t-miss events taking place during Desert Design Week.
April 8: The McKinley Club Sunset Hours
Phoenix
Guests of The McKinley Club will be among the first to see the newest collection of Phoenix-based artist, Danielle Hacche. While admiring the historic halls of The McKinley Club, event-goers will revel in colorful art pieces that are a modern take on the early 20th-century movement: geometric abstraction. Hacche has a unique ability to bring forth simplistic design with eccentric playfulness within her work. During this event, Hacche will speak more about what drives her creativity and how that has rolled over into her latest collection. Guests will also be able to hear from curator and winemaker, Timo Geis of Cactus Cru, Arizona’s first natural wine production label.

April 11: Red Modern Sunset Hour
Paradise Valley

On April 11, guests will be welcomed by views of Camelback Mountain during sunset hour alongside a unique pop-up presentation by Red Modern—a curation house that showcases and sells works from all over the world, and within our own state. From fine furniture and sculptural artwork to paintings and lighting, Red Modern touches on what Southwestern attributes look and feel like in our most operated spaces. Guests will revel in the red-and-golden-hued backdrop to live music with tasteful bites from Más Amable and a beverage pairing. This Desert Design Week event benefits the Wilson Dream Foundation, which supports students and families by providing essential resources not covered by the district in areas such as healthcare, food sufficiency, and education. Proceeds from this event will be gifted to the Wilson Elementary School District, by means of selling student-made art.

April 12: Le Fawnhawk: Ladies of the Canyon
Scottsdale
Amery Bohling Fine Art Gallery will be celebrating creative women and the artistic lineage of the desert during the Le Fawnhawk: Desert Alchemy exhibit closing night on April 12. This event will honor the enduring spirit of the desert through the lens of those whom shaped its narrative. This celebration will leave room for reflecting on how art, nature, and legacy can be integrated. As a play on legacy, this evening will honor one of art’s leading ladies: Georgia O’Keeffe, with an original relic and inspired fashions that were once beloved to the artist. Guests will also have the chance to revel in a dining experience inspired by O’Keeffe’s cookbook. Artists on presentation and featured on the event panel will be Petecia Le Fawnhawk, Amery Bohling, Rhiannon Griego, and Pia.
