CARE Organization’s Inaugural Red Carpet Gala
September 24, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The CARE Organization hosts its inaugural Red Carpet Gala on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Wild Horse Pass Gila River. The signature event aims to raise awareness and support resources that help victims rehabilitate from the trauma and neglect of these inhumane circumstances.
Fundraising efforts from the gala will go directly towards the purchase and renovation of the nonprofit organization’s new local group home in the Valley, which will serve as a haven for young girls currently in recovery.
Arizona has been identified as a prime area in the country for sex and labor trafficking. A form of slavery, trafficking is a high-profit industry where children have become the target. In the U.S., the average age a girl enters the commercial sex trade is between 12- and 14-years-old. Currently, 66 percent of child victims are female.
Today, there is a critical need for homes for victims of human trafficking to stay once they’ve been rescued. Survivors of all ages, especially children, need comprehensive care and services that help treat emotional and physical trauma, substance abuse support and ensure their basic needs are met. While proceeds from September’s Gala will go directly towards funding a new group home for young women, its founders plan to expand efforts exponentially in the near future.
The CARE Organization was founded by longtime friends George Papamatheakis and Roni Warda, whose core mission is to change the lives of vulnerable children who are facing crisis situations. With an action-driven approach, CARE helps provide shelter, food, and assists with health and educational needs for children in need in Arizona and communities across the country.
The Red Carpet Gala is a fundraiser that will support The CARE Organization’s efforts to improve the lives of victims of abuse and sex trafficking. Promising to be an unforgettable, meaningful experience for everyone who attends, the event will feature live music and dancing, entertainment from acclaimed musical artist, Yasmeen, as well as a highly anticipated live auction. The event will also honor its special guests and sex trafficking survivors, who will share her personal stories.
