Celebrate the fast pace and exhilaration of the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby at The Phoenician’s sixth annual Derby Day Porch Party, held at Mowry & Cotton on Saturday, May 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will be filled with Southern-inspired cocktails, cuisine, hospitality, and fun. The afternoon will be emceed by Master of Ceremonies, Sean McLaughlin of Arizona Family’s 3TV/CBS 5.
The Derby Day Porch Party will take over the dining room and porch at Mowry & Cotton, where large TVs and projection screens will be set-up to catch the race excitement. A raffle will be held for winner’s circle prizes featuring the names of win, place, and show horses. Guests are encouraged to get gussied up and don their fanciest hats, spring dresses and sharpest suits. Prizes will be awarded for several best dressed categories.
Mix and mingle while sipping on signature cocktails created for the occasion, including classic mint juleps, served in take-home, commemorative copper cups. A wide array of sweet and savory Southern delicacies will be served, including pickled deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, bourbon balls and more, as well as an outdoor grill serving up hangar steak and plenty of other irresistible dishes cooked over open flame.
Additional notable event highlights include a 360 camera for capturing memories, a live DJ, photo opportunities with a special VIP guest racehorse, and a take home bag full of goodies. Woodford Reserve will be on hand serving up samples, and signature Kentucky Derby labeled bottles will be available for purchase with custom engraving. Additionally, a portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit local nonprofit, After the Homestretch-Arizona, which protects the legacy of former racehorses through reconditioning, retraining and re-homing.
The Derby Party at Mowry & Cotton is $150++ per person. Admission includes all food, two signature cocktails, bourbon samples, contest prizes, a take home bag, and activities.
