First Annual Doggy Home Tour
December 11, 2010 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Outlets at Anthem will be hosting the First Annual Doggy Home Tour event, benefiting Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills, will take place on December 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Outlets at Anthem are seeking individuals or design teams to create one-of-a-kind doghouses for the First Annual Doggy Home Tour to benefit Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills. Architects, designers, carpenters, students, corporate teams, or anyone with a creative streak are encouraged to apply by November 10.
The doghouses will be on display at the Outlets at Anthem beginning December 5, and the home tour will conclude with a fun-filled, pet-friendly event on December 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Throughout the week, community members can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the original creations. Tickets will be $5 each or five for $20, with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills. The purpose of the Doggy Home Tour is to turn doghouses into dream homes for Valley families in need.
The doghouse must be functional and safe for pets and homeowners, but the sky is the limit with the design theme. The finished house needs to be easily transportable, so the overall size cannot exceed 12.25 square feet. It must be easily carried by two people, and the doghouse needs to fit through a standard doorway.
Participants are responsible for the cost of supplies and materials. Although not a requirement, designers are encouraged to use repurposed building materials, including items found at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Anthem. ReStore sells new and gently used building materials at 20 to70 percent off retail prices, with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills.
