AZ DRIVE, Arizona’s professional pickleball team, will make its debut at the Major League Pickleball (MLP) By Margaritaville Tournament in Mesa on Jan. 26 to 29. MLP is the standard-bearer for pickleball in the United States, delivering the highest quality and most exciting experience in the sport.

AZ DRIVE is owned by a diverse group of investors with vast experience in sports, business, entertainment, retail and hospitality, including Michael Phelps, Devin Booker, Dierks Bentley, Larry Fitzgerald Jr., Doug Hirsch, Sheila Gulati, John Merwin, Sam Fox, Brian Frakes, Mark Dalton, Richard J.Schnall, and the most recent addition, reigning and five-time Chess World Champion, Magnus Carlsen.

The 2023 Major League Pickleball (MLP) schedule features six events in Arizona, California, Florida, and Georgia. The year is divided into two “seasons” of three events – in the first season, 12 teams will compete in the MLP Premier Level and 12 will compete in the MLP Challenger Level, with rosters consisting of two men and two women. The teams will then flip levels and re-draft players for the second season. With the expansion to 24 teams, MLP is offering up to $5 million in prize money and payouts to its players in 2023. AZ DRIVE will compete in the Challenger Level in the first half of the year and the Premier Level in the second half.
