Who is Carley Conder?
Named Phoenix New Times’s “Best Dancer of 2015,” Carley Conder is an Arizona native from Yuma who is the Artistic Director of CONDER/dance, a mother of 3 and a wife.
What is Carley Conder’s story?
As an Arizona native, Carley studied with qualified, dedicated ballet teachers that instilled in her the discipline of the technique and love of the art form. In college, she enjoyed a rigorous dance training program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she was exposed to a broad range of styles and options for a career in the field of dance. After graduating with an MFA in Modern Dance, Carley moved back to the Valley and decided to dedicate herself to making a career in the arts here in Arizona. Following her dreams, she married an architect, had her first child, and started her own dance company, CONDER/dance.
CONDER/dance has become a strong creative force here in Arizona. Carley’s talent and passion attracts dance artists from all over the world for their annual dance and film festival: Breaking Ground. On January 29th & 30th, Tempe Center for the Arts will host Breaking Ground with a full weekend of performances and master classes. Nine years running, the event has grown to be recognized as a nationally significant platform to see the most current voices in contemporary dance.
When Carley isn’t performing in theaters all over the valley, or teaching dance as a Faculty Associate at Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, inspiring them and making sure they follow their dreams as well.
Carley Conder’s future dream?
Carley dreams of traveling to Israel to study a dance form called Gaga, originated by a world-renowned choreographer Ohad Saharan who lives in Tel Aviv. It is a training technique that allows the dancer to tap into their own way of moving and healing.

We think Carley possesses all of these characteristics and the way she has shared her gift and talent with so many others through CONDER/dance and Breaking Ground makes her pretty fabulous too!
