Brand Tagline: Win Victories. Stay Humble.
Hometown: Austin, TX
First fashion job: I’ve worked on a few small scale fashion shows just to see how things went. I’ve also helped with a few store openings to see how stressful opening a store front can be.
When did you know you had a passion for fashion: I’ve always had a passion for art in general since I was a child. I’ve always liked to wear nice clothes or cool brands just because the impact clothing has had on my culture. I just started physically making clothes last september so this has really been a trial by fire process.
Person who has impacted my life the most: my mother. She was the original designer and she sends me lots of encouragement on a consistent basis. I feel like my whole family really has my back on this one and the feeling is wonderful.
Your biggest fashion accomplishment in your eyes: making my first collection for the runway last year. I went from not knowing what a pattern was to a whole collection in a matter of months. It turned out way more epic than anticipated.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: dealing with negative relationships. I had alot of people in my corner i had to root out and am still dealling with this issue due to envy, misunderstanding, or people simply trying to step on me to get ahead. During this process i really had to hone in on the people around me and cut the dead weight. Bad relationships are bad business.
A designer who inspires you: Raf Simons. He has been a staple in the industry for awhile now but going from ready to wear to couture back to ready to wear isn’t a simple task.
