Hometown: El Segundo, California
First job: Dishwasher at El Segundo Fish Company. It was my first foray into food and beverage at 14 and it was love at first sight. By 17, I was responsible for daily management of the culinary operations.
Favorite AZ restaurant: I just moved back to the Valley, so I’m only now starting to check out the restaurant scene. On my list are F&B and Tratto.
Person who has impacted your life the most: My wife Tara and I met over 12 years ago here in Scottsdale. Three sons and one puppy later, she keeps me sane. She’s supported me through many moves and career progression and she keeps four crazy guys in line every day.
Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: At 33, I became the youngest Executive Chef for T. Cook’s and Royal Palms. I’m so proud to be in this role and to work with an amazing team at such an iconic property.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: My son was diagnosed with cholesteatoma when he was six years old. He had to have two major surgeries and it gave me a real sense of what is important in life and to not take anything for granted. I try to remind myself of that whenever things get tough.
Someone who inspires you: Executive Chef Simon Purvis hired me here in Scottsdale early on in my career and helped me progress through three different luxury properties. He put me on the right path to fulfill my passion and goal of being an Executive Chef. He is a master of his trade in the culinary world and his dry British humor kept me on my toes.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Life as a chef is long hours, hard work and crazy days, but it also allows you to surround yourself with a culinary team who becomes like a second family. If you are passionate about food and crave the joy and pride that comes with serving people, the demanding schedule is worth it.
What you think makes someone fabulous: Personality, living life with passion and not worrying about what people think. Don’t be afraid to push the limits when others tell you no.
