Hometown: Las Vegas, NV
First job: I worked at the hair salon my mom got her hair done at in Vegas when I was 16. I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career and got this job as a way to make some money and unexpectedly fell in love with the environment. I didn’t do ANYTHING creative before going to cosmetology school at age 18, so I had no idea what I was capable of. Getting that job at the salon unlocked my whole career path as an artist. Everything that I do now started with learning the hair industry.
Favorite AZ restaurant: Currently, Dorian. Every meal I’ve had there has been unreal and the atmosphere is upscale and chic. Love it.
Person who has impacted your life the most: My Dad. We haven’t always had the best relationship, I’ve always been extremely independent individual and I rebelled, HARD, but he’s always been my rock. We’ve always had a special bond, I was even born on his birthday. He & my mom instilled in me to be independent, strong, ambitious, intelligent, unique, & respectful. I wouldn’t have the mind I have without both my parents, and it is my mind I value most.
Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: So far, winning Phoenix Fashion Week 2017 Stylist Of The Year. That was the biggest runway production I had done at that point as a newly claimed wardrobe stylist and I won it. The win unlocked a lot of opportunity for me and curated a lot of new personal & professional relationships. I am forever thankful to the entire Phoenix Fashion Week team for taking a chance on me.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: Evolving into new versions of myself. There have been a lot of obstacles, I can’t really say one is bigger than the other. Growth and change are always challenging and I’ve had to leave behind many versions of myself and I’m grateful for every obstacle thrown my way because I believe that’s when the greatest things come. It’s all about mindset.
Someone who inspires you: Honestly, other than my parents, Miley Cyrus! Haha…I’ve been a Miley fan since she went rogue. Post Hannah Montana. She has evolved in front of millions of people, and that can’t be easy, yet she stays true to herself and her beliefs despite the immense amount of backlash she receives. She’s a transparent free spirit and completely unapologetic about who she is. I love her. Spirit animal.
Favorite quote: If my strength intimidates you, I hope you realize that’s a weakness of yours.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Show up to events. There is so much going on in the fashion communities. The only way you’re going to get anywhere is with the support of others. Put yourself out there, reach out to those who inspire you, try new things, fail, and try again differently. I’m always here for those trying to come up. I started with absolutely nothing & really lacking of confidence, so I get it. Reach out. I’m here.
