Hometown: Camarillo, CA

First job: My first job was as a receptionist at a salon & spa in CA when I was 16. It was awesome because not only did I get free hair services, but I got to be the guinea pig for new spa treatments and products, too.

Favorite AZ restaurant and why: Maple & Ash and not just because it is my client. I’ve been a big fan ever since I first went to the original location in Chicago a couple years ago. I love the vibe and energy, the service is impeccable and the food is amazing. If you haven’t been before, do yourself a favor a make a reservation stat and be sure to get the Fire-Roasted Seafood Tower.

Person who has impacted your life the most: My parents. They always encouraged me to pursue my dreams, were super supportive and instilled the value of hard work in me from a young age. My dad owned his own company while I was growing up. I got my ambition from him and he taught me that effort equals results.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes and why: Definitely starting my own company, Adler Public Relations. It was a difficult decision to make the leap and leave the advertising agency where I was previously Director of PR and had a whole team of people for support, along with a steady salary and benefits. Even though starting my own company was a big risk, it’s the best career move I’ve ever made.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: I was laid off from my first job in AZ, which was in real estate development, when the market crashed in 2008. Although I was devastated at the time, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it prompted me to get my first advertising agency job, which is where I discovered my passion for public relations. I probably wouldn’t have the successful PR career I do today, had that never happened.

Someone who inspires you and why: Female entrepreneurs who have started successful brands from scratch. I particularly admire Rachel Hollis, Whitney Wolfe and Sara Blakely

Favorite quote: “One day or day one?” – This was the inspirational quote displayed on my old agency’s reception desk the day I put in my notice. Even though I had already made up my mind to quit, it was like divine intervention reinforcing my decision when I walked into the office that morning. It has stuck with me ever since.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: In PR it is important to be resilient, resourceful and a great communicator. Your relationships are everything, so you should treat them like gold. Being an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone, but if you have the desire to start your own company, you should do it and start before you think you are ready. My only regret with starting my own company is not doing it sooner.

What you think makes someone fabulous: Being authentic, leading with gratitude and unapologetically pursuing your passions.
