Hometown: Schenectady, New York

First job:  My first job was being a trade show model.  I remember working conventions in Albany when I was in high school.  My favorite part was at the end of the shows, when they would send me home with the leftover product.  After one trade show, I was stocked in Pantene Pro-V shampoo
and conditioner for months!

Favorite AZ restaurant: Taco Chelo in Downtown Phoenix!  My friend Brandon Budlong is a huge foodie in Phoenix and he brought me there for lunch one day.  My three favorite foods are sushi, steak and tacos, so Brandon made sure that I got to try the best tacos in town.  It’s the cutest Taqueria by one of my favorite chefs, Chef Aaron Chamberlin, who is also the owner of Phoenix Public Market Cafe.

Person who has impacted your life the most: The people who have had the biggest impact on my life are my parents, Sam and Cheryl.  They adopted me from Korea when I was 3 months old.  I would have had a completely different life if it wasn’t for them.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: My biggest accomplishment was starting my own company and not giving up on it!  I am an attorney and it would have been very easy to go back to the whole steady paycheck and benefits thing at so many points.  When you’re in business for yourself you really have to rely on yourself for everything!  I’m so grateful that my business has come so far in the past 5 years!

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: The biggest obstacle I have overcome is dealing with the pains that come along with being a business owner.  Sometimes, you’re busy and everything is great.  Sometimes, business slows down.  I jumped right into my business, without a real backup plan.  Then, I did whatever it took to make it work.  Sometimes that meant taking on projects that I wasn’t 100% excited about or accepting a rate less than what I was worth.  Luckily, I’ve learned my lessons along the way and now only work with clients and on projects that I’m passionate about!

Someone who inspires you: Desiree Perez, COO of Roc Nation.  In what seems like another lifetime, I spent 3 years as a cocktail waitress at The 40/40 Club in New York and Las Vegas (Jay-Z’s upscale Sports Bar/Lounge/Restaurant Concept). Desiree was running things there at the time.  She is a powerhouse.  I was always inspired by the way she handled business and how she did it in style.  It’s no surprise to me that she is now running Roc Nation! ??

Favorite quote: “Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.” —Rumi

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: My advice to anyone who wants to pursue any career is the same.  Find someone who is in the place you want to be and find out what it took for them to get there.  Reach out and ask for advice, help, mentorship.  I wouldn’t be where I am today without the many mentors who have imparted their wisdom to me along the way.

What you think makes someone fabulous: Being Fabulous is a mindset. One thing that you have control of is your outlook on things.  Fabulous people are those who always have a positive outlook on life and spread the love.
