Fabulous People: Aleksandra Mordas

Aleksandra Mordas is a passionate marketer, jewelry designer, writer, adventure seeker, espresso connoisseur and Doodle mom. Although her career journey began at an investment fund in the Windy City, it was only a matter of time before she merged her finance background, inborn creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for empowering others in a marketing capacity at a West Coast-based FinTech. After moving to Scottsdale with her husband, she once again challenged herself to evolve creatively and prove that anything is possible by launching Desert Citizen Jewelry, a brand designed to inspire women to embrace their confidence, natural beauty and sense of adventure in everyday pursuits. Hometown: Chicago, IL

First job: My first job was working for a floral boutique in the Chicago suburbs. To this day you can find me creating fabulous arrangements and centerpieces at my house! It’s a handy skill around the holidays.

Favorite AZ restaurant: The Vig McDowell Mountain because of the relaxed patio vibes and good cocktails!

Person who has impacted your life the most: There’s a saying that goes: “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” I’ve had dozens of kindred spirits impact my life on various levels and I cherish each and every one of those experiences.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: Running a marathon! I am not a runner by any means and the coolest aspect was to overcome my mind and convince my body to train. It was very rewarding to test my physical limits and cross the finish line.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: Myself. With time I realized that success really means overcoming our self-imposed limitations and the imaginary ceiling in our mind. It’s about always believing and trusting in our ability to figure things out.

Someone who inspires you: There’s nothing more inspiring than to witness a person overcome adversity and live out their dreams, especially when the odds were against them.

Favorite quote: “Ask for forgiveness, not for permission.” (I’m a little bit of a rebel)

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: If there is one piece of advice I could share with anyone, no matter their career path, it would be to try as many different things as early on as possible so you can learn about the type of work you are passionate about.

What makes someone fabulous: Having a great attitude and staying authentic to who they are. And of course, a great piece of jewelry!
