First job: At 13 years old, I started a lawn care business with one house. I worked extremely hard, developed great customer service skills, and within two months, I had more work than I could handle. I hired my friends and siblings to maintain the yards, and I spent all my time obtaining new customers. I was in the lawn care business until I went to college. As simple as this sounds, this experience shaped my life forever.
Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love living in the state of Arizona. I spend a lot of time hiking and biking around our state. My family and I staycation quite a bit. The sports, climate, scenery…we take it all in!
Your biggest accomplishment and why: This is an easy question; my wife and three daughters are literally the greatest things I have ever done in my life. Family is everything.
The biggest obstacle you overcame: I started MiCamp Solutions by going door to door selling a commodity, merchant processing. The biggest obstacle I have faced in my career, especially in an industry where, unfortunately, dishonesty abounds, was taking MiCamp from selling a commodity to the trusted world-wide Fintech company it is today.
Someone who inspires you and why: My mother is my biggest inspiration. There is nothing she would not do for her family. She worked extremely hard every day, no complaints to make sure that our family never went without. Every time I think that things are tough, I think of everything my
mother sacrificed for us and I keep going. If I could be half the parent my mother is, I will have made it in life!
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Have a great work ethic and a strong backbone. This line of work is filled with cutthroat, sometimes unethical people that will stop at nothing to get what they want. Never forget that you are only as good as your reputation and name; you lose those, you will never succeed in the Fintech business and, more importantly, in life.
Favorite quote: “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” –John D. Rockefeller
Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: My favorite thing to do is sit in front of a fire, smoke a cigar and listen to classical music. My mentor, my grandfather, inspired this.
What makes someone fabulous: Loyalty and transparency.
