Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

First job: I started babysitting for a few neighbors when I was 12 years old. Now having kids of my own, I can’t imagine trusting a 12-year-old. I guess it is a good thing my parents were just on the other side of the fence. As soon as I was old enough to have a “real” job, I worked as a lifeguard at our local pool. This was my dream job (at the time)–getting to work on my tan, swim and get paid for it!

Favorite ways to spend your free time in Arizona: Enjoying the Arizona weather with my kids and husband. I love swimming and was a competitive swimmer most of my life. I find so much joy spending time in our pool teaching my kids how to swim. Both kids are little fish and love the water. Plus, it is a great way to wear them out.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Easy, becoming a mom. It is by far the most challenging job, but also the most rewarding. Kids somehow have a way of knowing how to push every button you have, but then in a split second they can be the kindest, sweetest kid you ever met. I’ve been pushed to my limits and managed to take on things I didn’t think were possible before becoming a mom. I have learned how to be strong, grateful, patient and prepared.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Getting out of my comfort zone and changing industries is one of the biggest obstacles I’ve overcome. I spent nearly 11 years doing marketing in the commercial real estate world. It was comfortable, and I knew what I was doing. I knew I was ready for a change, but of course, change is scary. Moving over to the multifamily industry was an exciting change, but I also felt like I was starting over. I quickly realized that starting over was a good thing. I was constantly learning and growing which meant there was never a dull day. With this industry continuing to grow and evolve, I am confident I won’t ever stop learning!

Someone who inspires you and why: I can’t pinpoint just one single person in my life who inspires me. I am inspired daily by the people who surround me; my parents, husband, kids, coworkers and friends. Each person pushes me and teaches me how to be a better person.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Be prepared to learn, change and grow. There is never a dull, boring day!

Favorite quote: “Everything happens for a reason.” It is such a simple quote, but it rings true in so many cases in my life.

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I wanted to be an orthodontist when I was younger. I could not wait to get my braces, and I loved my visits to the orthodontist. Strange, I know! There is nothing better than a person with a great smile.

What makes someone fabulous: I think what makes someone fabulous is when they’re open-minded and willing to be able to look at all sides of a situation.
