Your biggest accomplishment and why: Oooh, this is a tough one. Over the different decades of my life, different accomplishments have propelled me towards the next stage in my life. This year, my biggest accomplishment is having created a team of people who learn from each other, grow together and, most importantly, create a fun and dynamic work environment. It makes me happy to go to work each day!
The biggest obstacle you overcame: I’m not sure that I have overcome it, actually I’m pretty sure that I haven’t. But the biggest obstacle to my own happiness, and that of people I meet, is judgment. We are so quick to judge based on how people look, what bumper sticker they have on their car or the clothes that they wear. Judgment really inhibits our ability to get to know people and fully enjoy our time on this planet. I’m working so hard on letting go of judgment—of others, of myself, of situations. Acceptance is a much better place to start from!
Someone who inspires you and why: My sisters inspire me because I see intimately the joys and challenges of their lives. They both work hard to develop deeper insights into themselves and translate that into building positive communities of people who create ripples of change in the world.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Learn how to understand others and really listen. When a client comes to you to help them regain their confidence through enhancing their aesthetics, you have to have a connection so that you know how best to help. You can only get that through true and deep listening.
Favorite quote: “The days are long, and the years are short.” This quote helps me keep things in perspective. Even though a single day might feel overwhelming, they all blend into a bigger experience of life. So don’t get stuck on a single day.
Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I can make really beautiful beaded jewelry, if only I have the time.
What makes someone fabulous: You are fabulous when your light shines and kindles the light in others.
