Alexis & Ricky Brown
Home base: Scottsdale
How did your love story begin? Our love story started on an online dating site in 2004…yes, they existed back then! Ricky was in residency in Chicago, and Alexis was a practicing dental hygienist in Las Vegas. Alexis messaged Ricky after she saw that he was stalking her profile and after corresponding emails back and forth, they eventually talked for four hours one night on the phone. He then flew out to meet her and made her take her profile off of the website. They flew back-and-forth between Chicago and Las Vegas for a year, and Alexis had started making plans to move to Chicago close to one year after they started dating. A year to the day that they met, April 6, 2005, Ricky proposed before she moved as a surprise. Here we are 20 years later and married for 18. We love this life we’ve built together with each other and our amazing twin boys, who are 14. We’ve grown individually and together as a couple and continue this journey with joy and intention daily. The reason we work so well is that we choose each other daily. We both lived alone and had our own lives that we enjoyed before meeting and knew if we met the right person that we wanted to share that with, it would make our already-great lives that much better together.
Favorite thing about one another: Ricky: I can’t pick just one but if I have to I would say Alexis has the most genuine soul that I know. To know her is to love her.
Alexis: I would have to say that after 20 years, Ricky is still able to make me laugh like nobody else can, and I love that he loves me for exactly who I am.
Favorite date night: Anything that involves quality time together. That could mean anything as simple as going for a walk together or going out to dinner. Intentional time away together just the two of us in our busy lives can be considered a date, day or night.
Favorite tradition as a couple: Spending a week in Park City every summer. Hiking, biking and horseback riding. A new tradition: We spend the night away from our kids in beginning of January, setting our intentions and goals for the year as individuals and as a couple and family.
What does your happily ever after look like? Healthy, wealth and happiness with a lot of laughter and travel mixed in.
