How did you get into interior design? I actually didn’t decide I wanted to be a designer until I was in college. I just always loved anything that involved creativity, and I decided design might be the right spot for me express that creativity
How has the pandemic affected your industry? As many others, we have seen more virtual meetings and presentations as well as working from home. From a procurement standpoint, It has been a challenge. Lead times are often longer than normal and somewhat unpredictable, so it has been extra critical to keep the lines of communication open with our clients and project teams to set realistic expectations.
What is your best advice for achieving timeless interior design? Symmetry and simplicity often work hand in hand with timeless details.
Most memorable design project? That’s tough to pick just one! One of my most memorable was one of my earliest projects which was an extensive remodel in Gilbert. It was not too long after I started my business and was for a client who was really loved unique design and was excited about creating unique spaces. I really felt like I was able to unleash all the creativity I had within me and still think of the client and the project often.
Tip for a homeowner about to embark on a home design project? I think having the right team in place is the most critical factor. It is also important to have someone who drives the overall vision. I think it can be easy to get caught up with listening to a lot of different voices during the process, but they don’t always have the entire vision in mind.
Favorite Arizona-based retailers or home décor brands? For art, I often go to Bonner David Galleries, who has an incredible collection and range of styles. I also love finding the luxurious little finishing touches like bedding, throws and bath accessories at Biltmore Interiors & Linens.
