Fab Mixologists

Christiaan Rollich

Between four-course dinners, sweeping sunsets and world-class cocktails (made by bar chef Christiaan Rollich, no less), the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain really is one of the finest destinations in the Valley. Plus, beyond serving up decadent drinks at the Sanctuary and acting as a professional beverage creator, Rollich also acts as owner of Golden Eagle Spirits.

Best part of working in the Valley’s mixology scene: To be part of a growing culinary scene and finding a clientele that is willing and open to explore the world of cocktails. They are not afraid of discovering and trying new things.

Go-to drink: Death in the Gulfstream, the beauty is in its simplicity. Genever and lime with bitters and demerara. Besides Heineken, it’s the only drink I make at home. And who says no to a Hemingway cocktail?

Best advice to an aspiring mixologist or bartender: Don’t be afraid to fail. If you are not willing to push beyond your borders of creativity, you will never figure out a great cocktail. Oh, and work harder than anyone else. There is no magic involved in succeeding and achieving your goals.
