Fab Moms: Arizona

Mom to: Alexandria, 29 (Alex, for short)

Hometown: I was born in Guam and raised in Southern California. Today, Uptown Phoenix is home.

Favorite ways to spend family time in Arizona: Hiking Piestewa Peak and riding our bikes to our favorite restaurants in Uptown Phoenix.

Your most rewarding motherhood moment: Watching Alex graduate Magna Cum Laude from University of California San Diego in Neuroscience.

Biggest challenge as a mom: Being a single mother at 19 years old. It was a challenge balancing college classes, Alex’s hobbies and my career. Luckily, I had a strong circle of friends who helped me manage everything.

A mother who inspires you and why: Rachelle Strole, owner of Capital Asset Management, has been an inspiration to me because she is fiercely competitive and persevering. She has tactful negotiation skills, clever investments and creative project development. And, as a mother of three children, she manages a seamless work life balance.

Best piece of advice for a new mom: Make yourself a priority, find what makes you happy and learn to be your best self.

Your biggest hope for your children: My biggest hope for Alex is that she is happy in her career, with her relationships, and able to enjoy the things she likes most.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day? We are going on a morning hike, getting massages and hanging out by our pool with our dogs, Scully and Mulder.
